Vision and Tools

The primary objective of KMI is to assist executives and professionals develop innovative means in creating value in their organizations, through new designs for business practice.

Towards this end, the content of the e-courses and other material employed are rich in examples and business cases. Many different industries and a variety of practices are covered in these examples in order to facilitate Knowledge Leveraging © and come up with new and innovative ideas.

We define Knowledge Leveraging as the ability to construct a new design (business model; distribution channel; novel way to service etc.) through inspiration from existing examples. The inspiration may come from business cases, as well as from discussions, forums, projects, workshops, etc. Such activities facilitate not only inspiration, but also encourage new ideas, face challenges, and take risks.

To enable and support a rich learning experience that leads to inspiration and innovation, a variety of tools are incorporated in the program. The interactive web-based courses are sources of extracted knowledge in business and management as well as a platform to provoke thought and insight. These are supported by 'live' sessions (virtual classroom) which allow for instantenous interaction with faculty and classmates.

"Forums" are an integral part of the courses, where individuals freely share their opinions on a variety of subjects, ranging from finance to philosophy. Ideas generated in the Forums are also taken up in the Workshops where actual business cases are addressed. Small groups typically team-up to tackle complex problems in order to create innovative solutions which are challenged and debated. The capstone activity is a competitive business game (enterprise simulation) where participants try to optimize among profits, market share, customer loyalty, and company value.

Throughout the EMBA program, instructor support is provided for each course and each activity. Reading materials and links to relevant sources provide additional information on the subjects covered.
